The Majesty of Simple Things Featuring Nancy James. Harvey Dunn, one of Howard Pyle's most successful students, used that phrase to describe what he had learned from Pyle. I found I felt that way about the subjects I painted and it has guided me in describing the simplicity and symmetry of a still life, the refreshing, consoling power of nature in a landscape and the warmth of human faces in a portrait. Earth Poems: Inspired by her surrounding landscape and neighborhoods in the Brandywine Valley region, Temre Stanchfield’s paintings are about nature’s perennial life cycle as a symbol of renewal and sustainability. Temre focuses mostly on her palette (developed from flesh and earth tones) and the surface of her paintings, which recall the earth, organic materials, debris, compost, and varied surfaces of the surrounding countryside. Light refreshments served at Art Loop.
